Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the HÄST GO mobile application handles, why, where it goes, and the rights you have. HÄST GO is an internal professional tool used by reporters and producers of HÄST and partner newsroom teams to capture and deliver video footage to the newsroom's media library. It is not a consumer product and has no public sign-up.

What the app handles
Account information
Your account is created by your newsroom coordinator — you cannot sign up yourself. The account consists of a username, your full name, work email address, and your team. You set your own password when redeeming your invite code; it is stored only as a salted cryptographic hash and is never visible to anyone, including administrators.
Content you capture or import
The entire purpose of the app is to deliver your footage to the newsroom. When you record or import a clip, the following is uploaded to the Company's media systems:
- the video and audio recording itself (a 1080p working copy first, and the full-quality original if you choose to send it);
- small thumbnail images generated from the clip;
- basic clip details: file name, duration, resolution, and the date and time of the upload;
- any note or tags you choose to type for the producers.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No third-party analytics SDKs.
- No location collection — the app does not request or use your device's location.
- No access to your contacts, messages, or browsing history.
- Nothing from your photo library is read or uploaded except the specific videos you explicitly select to import.
- Your data is never sold or used for marketing.

Why we process this data
- To run the newsroom — delivering, organizing and archiving footage is the app's sole function (our legitimate interest as a media organization, and performance of our working relationship with you);
- Operating and securing the service — authentication, upload delivery, and troubleshooting.
Where your data is stored, and who can see it
Footage and clip details are stored with our infrastructure providers and are accessible only to authorized newsroom staff:
- Cloudflare — application backend and media file storage;
- iconik — the newsroom's media asset management library, where producers and editors work with your clips.
These providers act as processors for the Company and may rely on infrastructure inside and outside the EU, subject to appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses). We do not share your data with any other third parties.
How long we keep it
- Footage becomes part of the newsroom's editorial archive and is retained according to the Company's editorial and archiving policy.
- Account data is kept while your account is active and removed when your account is deleted.
- Local copies on your device (recordings, upload queue) stay on your device and can be cleared from within the app; queue history clears automatically after 48 hours.
Account deletion
Because accounts are provisioned by the organization, deletion is handled by the organization too: ask your newsroom coordinator, or email hi@hast.gr from your work address, and your account will be deactivated and its personal data removed. Footage already delivered to the newsroom archive is handled per the editorial retention policy above.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to the processing of, and receive a copy of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact hi@hast.gr. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
Security
All transfers between the app and our systems use encrypted connections (TLS). Uploads use short-lived, signed URLs. Access to newsroom systems is role-based: each team sees its own collections. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes.
Children
HÄST GO is a professional tool for working journalists and is not directed to, or intended for use by, anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced to users through the newsroom.
